Renful's flag ship product was an X-ray simulator, with a training feature attached, allowing students to be entered to a database, provided with simulation training then assessed and graded.
The program was purely a database and a simulator. It was an essential training aid but had no audio and video feature to provide initial training on the basics of how x-ray worked, why it was used, the importance of the x-ray operators job and health and safety issues related to regular use of the technology. TREFOX became this extra component and allowed Renful to provide a comprehensive training package to our customers. I was recruited to design and build the TREFOX program.
A key element to understand, when reading an x-ray image, is how objects gain their colour. I produced this diagram to convey how the different colours are created.
This chapter explained the electromagnetic spectrum and how x-rays fitted in to it. This screen is taken from the Chinese translation of Trefox.
This chapter to a brief look at how X-rays were created. I had to prepare a brief for this animation to send to an outsourced animator.
After illustrating the x-ray tube, this animation was used to put it in the context of a modern x-ray machine.
Many attempts were made to provide quality video of a real x-ray machine in operation, using our simulator. This material was used throughout the TREFOX program.
